Three-dimensional digitisation of heritage objects has become essential for the conservation and management
of museum collections.
At the Museum of Natural Sciences in Belgium, the development of digitisation
methods has been adapted to all types of objects and is more and more precise and fast which has made
it possible to set up large 3D virtual collections of fossils and objects relating to Neandertals.
The website and availability of the fossils are the results of the Brain Neandertal_3D project.
The project is made up of different partners who are all financially supported by the Belgian Science Policy
Office (BELSPO).
The website ‘The Last of Them’ was created by the Association for the Dissemination of Archaeological Information (ADIA).
